The Garlic – treatment for hypertension, high cholesterol, infections
Garlic was successfully used in China and Japan in order to treat blood pressure, ever since the year 30 before Christ when its benefits were discovered, being mentioned and used by both Aristotle and Hippocrates.
It contains vitamin A, C, B1, but also brimstone, cooper, iron, zinc, tin, calcium, potassium, aluminium, selenium, germanium. This complex of minerals has the following proved effects:
- Decreases blood pressure. In 1948 Piotrowsky edited an article in which he showed that after only one week garlic treatment the blood pressure decreased with 20 mmhg at half of the treated patients.
- It efficiently decreases the cholesterol, triglycerides, decreases IDL cholesterol and increases HDL cholesterol, and stabilizes the atheromatous plaque. A. Bordia edited in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, the effects of a 6 months treatment with confections, each confection representing the equivalent of 10 cloves. The cholesterol decreased with 14%, the IDL cholesterol with 17%, and the HDL cholesterol with 41%.
- Decreases coagulation. Studied and confirmed by Erick Block and Sainiani since 1979.
- Antibiotic effects with a large spectrum, antimicrobial and antigungal , being useful also in treating ptyriasis. The effects were closely followed and studied by Louis Pasteur himself since 1858. Doctor Albert Schweitzer was the one who spoke about the amazing results in treating cholera, typhoid fever and dysentery. In Russia garlic is called ’’Russian penicillin’’.
Other diseases for which garlic has an important and remarkable adjuvant role: asthma, bronchitis, acne, constipation, diarrhea, intestinal worms, helminth, haemorrhoids, falling sickness, rheumatism, arthritis, whooping cough, cold, conjunctivitis, snake bites, the treatment of different lesions and plaques, teeth aches.
In the ancient written works Aristophanes used it as a cure for impotence.
In the 1950s and 1960s several studies were conducted in which was speculated the importance of garlic for curing cancer.
Very important: If you decide to take garlic as a natural adjuvant it is better to take it under the form of confection, due to the high concentration at which garlic takes effect. Raw garlic consumed excessively is disagreeable not only in breathing but also in perspiration, and can lead to stomach troubles or anemia.
