Ginkgo biloba is a natural medicine (it comes from a tree which is original from China) and has effects such as ameliorating arterial circulation at the level of members (for ischemia syndrome of the legs) and the brain. It stimulates cerebral circulation and the energetic cell metabolism. It is indicated for peripheral circulation disorders and psycho-behavioural disorders of the old persons.
Ginkgo biloba confections (in drug stories as Tanakan, Ginkgoprim) are administered in 40 mg per dose , 2-3 times a day, in treatments of 2-3 months with a month pause between two consecutive treatments.
According to each affection and if there are not any counter indications, the neurologist can extend the treatment.
Side effects of ginkgo biloba:
It occur rarely and especially at old patients. These can be nausea, diarrhea, light headache, anxiety, rash. If one of the symptoms becomes annoying then the interruption of the treatment can be necessary and you have to announce the doctor. .
The medicines that contain Ginkgo biloba must not be administered during the treatment with anticoagulants, papaverine, thiazide diuretics, antidepressants, platelet antiaggregants , aspirin.
